Innovation Project Update: The Journey of the Forest of Reading and Writing

Throughout my journey in the Applied Digital Learning (ADL) program, I have discovered that innovation is not about breaking from the past, but about re-reading it through new perspectives and possibilities. At every stage of my career, the achievements, the routines, and even the uncertainties have shown me that educational transformation is not a rupture but a continuous process of evolution, reflection, and purpose. At first, my goal was clear: to strengthen my bilingual students’ reading and writing skills. Yet, over time, I realized that the deepest innovation happens when teachers and students become authors of their own learning, empowered to decide, explore, and reflect with autonomy. From that understanding emerged my project, Explorers of the Forest of Reading and Writing, a proposal that integrates technology into the physical classroom to create a hybrid, bilingual, and deeply human learning environment. Inspired by the COVA + CSLE framework (Harapnuik, 2016), I designed experiences that give students choice, ownership, and voice through authentic, creative, and gamified opportunities that blend reading, writing, and digital tools.

Each course in the ADL program became a path within this forest: some helped me clear the ground, others helped me plant new ideas, and still others taught me how to nurture what was already growing. Through reflection and practice, I have built a more conscious, meaningful, and human approach to teaching. Today, I invite you to walk through this forest with me, pausing at each station to notice the footprints left by learning and reflection, and to listen to the voices that have guided the journey. Because every step, even the uncertain ones, was essential to arrive here. This journey has not only transformed how I teach; it has taught me to see learning as a living landscape, where every root, leaf, and path tells a story of growth, purpose, and hope.
